Darian Mensah sets ACC record for most consecutive pass completions in a game.

They all completed their first 18 passes. Mensah was tabbed as one of the best transfer quarterbacks in the country this offseason, and he’s sure looked the part three games into his tenure with the Hurricanes. Not only does he look like the best transfer quarterback this season, he certainly looks like the best quarterback in the entire sport. In the record-setting performance Saturday night, Mensah connected with seven different receivers. Superstar sophomore receiver Malachi Toney accounted for 11 of those receptions, totaling 113 yards and one touchdown. Toney, who led the nation in receptions last season, looks well on his way to being so once again this year. “The biggest thing I noticed when watching the film was our communication, whether it involved protection, run blocking or routes. That was probably the biggest issue that appeared.”

Miami opened its season with back-to-back dominant victories over Stanford (45-6) and Florida A&M (77-7). The ‘Canes are facing their first true test of the season Friday night at Wake Forest . He got a little friendly fire here from Omar Thornton , who came in trying to make the tackle. He ended up playing the next play, but you could tell that shoulder was really bothering him. “That’s a big loss, because that’s someone that offensive coordinator Rob Ezell singled out as somebody they have to know where he is, and how to take care of him on the defensive front,” ESPN’s Jordan Rodgers added. “He was really impressed with Moten, as we were, and everyone who watches him.
