After months of camp reps, depth chart speculation, and way too many hours spent theorizing about backfield rotations, it’s here. West Virginia opens the 2026 season Saturday at noon against Coastal Carolina at Milan Puskar Stadium, and I don't think I'm the only one who's had this date circled for a while now. This one has a little more history to it than people remember. WVU and Coastal have only met once before, all the way back in 2010, when the Chanticleers were still an FCS program. Geno Smith threw for over 200 yards and two scores, Noel Devine ran wild, and West Virginia walked away with a 31-0 shutout. Sixteen years later, Coastal is a very different program, but this is still very much a get-right game for us at home.
