Kansas State: The Wildcats have won their first three games in impressive fashion.

The Wildcats have won their first three games in impressive fashion. It began with a 71-3 victory against the Nicholls Cowboys and a 34-7 win versus the Washington State Cougars. It continued with a 31-20 triumph over the Tulane Green Wave, a participant in last year's College Football Playoff. Still, Klein thinks there is even room for more improvement. Here's what he had to say about the progress during his midweek game press conference. "I think we're learning more every day," Klein said. "I think we're learning more every week. We're constantly growing, and I think that's something that we put a lot of emphasis on as a staff and our players are embracing, too."

The Kansas State Wildcats football team had an impressive finish to the non-conference portion of the schedule. They had big wins against the Nicholls Cowboys, Washington State Cougars and Tulane Green Wave to start a perfect 3-0 under first-year coach Collin Klein. The question is if the Wildcats are prepared for their toughest challenge after the first three games of the season. In his words, he said those games were "tremendous" for the progress of the team. "I mentioned it after the [Tulane] game," Klein said earlier this week during his game week press conference. "Every football game and every good team you play, it doesn't matter what conference they're in, it doesn't matter how talented people think they are or they're not, or how they compare to you, it is truly about the competitive nature and that battle of will between those two teams." Thus far, the only "gimme" game for the Wildcats was against Nicholls. Washington State played the rival Washington Huskies tough for the most part when the teams met in the opener.

Kansas State: The unit features the likes of Garrett Oakley, Will Anciaux and Link…

The unit features the likes of Garrett Oakley, Will Anciaux and Linkon Cure, but it has yet to reach full potential this season. The group has combined to catch 15 passes for 174 yards and no touchdowns. That was a big part of the Tulane Green Wave's game plan last week. The Wildcats still won 31-20 despite limited production at tight end. "But, in the passing game, it's going to depend on the coverage, the leverage, and the progression of the quarterback," Klein said. "So, when their number was called, they did a great job, and I know they're going to be big for us moving forward." The positive is Wildcats quarterback Avery Johnson is taking advantage by getting the wide receivers and running backs involved in the passing game. Receivers Jaron Tibbs and Josh Manning have emerged as Johnson's top targets, combining for 28 receptions for 292 yards and three touchdowns.

Collin Klein has to be smiling after the way his first three games have gone since becoming the coach of the Kansas State Wildcats . Quarterback Avery Johnson led the Wildcats with his legs and feet. He threw for 228 yards while also running for 152 yards and two touchdowns. His last score, a 12-yard run, put the game away early in the fourth quarter. Tulane became the first team to score an offensive touchdown against the Wildcats when quarterback Kadin Semonza had a nine-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to make it 7-0. K-State responded with 17 unanswered points, including touchdown runs by running back Jay Harris and Johnson. Just when it appeared they were about to take control, the Wildcats allowed another score just before halftime when Green Wave kicker Cooper Helmke made a 58-yard field goal. The Wildcats completed an undefeated non-conference schedule, opening with convincing wins against the Nicholls Cowboys and Washington State Cougars.
