A victory protects the record. A 14-point afternoon against New Mexico does not protect a ranking built to compare teams.

READ UPDATE →NATIONAL UPDATEPressure builds for OU football's Ben Arbuckle following uninspiring 14-6 win over New Mexico. NORMAN — Ben Arbuckle felt he and his offense had the best week of practice in his two seasons in Norman. Yet, it looked like the worst performance in a win from an Arbuckle-led OU offense so far in his short tenure. Now the burner is fired up, pinning pressure on Arbuckle to figure out how to get the Sooners offense to produce.
READ UPDATE →NATIONAL UPDATE- This was one of those nights where the result and the feeling do not match. That happens when you are a three-touchdown favorite at home against a Group of Six roster and need every bit of a dominant defensive night just to get out with 14 points. Ben Arbuckle is not the answer right now Something is badly off with this offense, and it is getting harder to defend the current version of Ben Arbuckle 's operation. The whole attack plays with no rhythm, no tempo, and no confidence. Oklahoma is huddling up snap after snap, which looks nothing like the faster, freer identity Arbuckle teams used to have at Washington State . Maybe Brent Venables is squeezing the offense into something smaller and safer than it is supposed to be. The why matters less than the product, and the product is bad.

READ UPDATE →NATIONAL UPDATEOklahoma star carries Bloomfield family legacy. If the UNM Lobos expect to pull off a gigantic upset on Saturday against Oklahoma, they’ll have to deal with Sooners wide receiver-punt returner Isaiah Sategna III. Just as Bloomfield High School’s track and football opponents had to deal with his dad back in the ‘90s. The proverbial apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree.
