It is unusual for college programs to have players dismissed by a coach as a form of discipline unless they are involved in a major controversy or the league has demanded their dismissal. Sanders, however, made the call to remove three players for being "knuckleheads" and failing to meet Colorado's standards.

"This sounds like somebody who really wants to coach," he said on a recent episode of the show. "I think about the time when he was introduced (Jackson State incident), and a guy who introduced him didn't call him coach when he first got there, and he said, 'Well, why won't you call me coach?'

And it kind of came off as a little arrogant. Like you're trying to talk down to a guy, and he needs to address you the proper way.
