The early College Football Playoff picture is beginning to take shape. ESPN’s Heather Dinich broke down where every team stands.

Ole Miss has emerged as one of the strongest early contenders after adding another ranked victory over the Tigers, while Ohio State , Miami , BYU and Notre Dame remain prominently positioned. Several other teams, including Louisville , Utah , Penn State and Tennessee , remain difficult to evaluate with much of their most important schedule still ahead.

Miami remains the ACC team in the spotlight for Dinich after starting 3-0, including two road victories and three wins by double digits. BYU is Dinich’s spotlight team in the Big 12 after an unbeaten start that has included strong underlying efficiency numbers despite a relatively modest résumé.
