CBS Sports ranks Marcus Stokes the No.
Stokes is the third-highest ranked Group of Six quarterback on the list, ranking behind Umass' William "Pop" Watson and App State's Malachi Singleton . Singleton spent time at Arkansas and Purdue before landing at Appalachian State , and he has thrown for 889 yards, five touchdowns and an interception, leading the Mountaineers to a 3-0 start.
Watson transferred to UMass after three seasons at Virginia Tech , and he has thrown for 509 yards, five touchdowns and an interception in three games. The senior quarterback has also added 82 yards and two rushing touchdowns, leading the Minutemen to three wins over Rutgers, Sacred Heart and Stonehill.
Stokes finds himself at No. 40 between Kentucky 's Kenny Minchey at No. 39 and North Dakota State's Nathan Hayes at No. 41. The Tigers' quarterback has one more game under his belt than most quarterbacks, but he has thrown for 1,053 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions, leading Memphis to a 3-1 record.
In his most recent outing against the Skyhawks, Stokes threw for 258 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions before being pulled late in the third quarter. After throwing an incomplete pass on the first drive, the quarterback threw 18-straight completions and ended the first half 21-for-22 for 216 yards and three touchdowns.
