Alabama: FBS Oversight Committee proposes ban on football staffers attending games…
AlabamaThis proposal, if formally adopted, would prohibit college basketball and football coaches from attending other D-I games — including preseason, regular-season and/or conference tournaments — in which they are not participating, with limited exceptions for games involving a family member. The Division I Cabinet is expected to consider this proposal during their annual meeting in early October.
Last season, multiple collegiate basketball coaches publicly called out colleagues who were actively attempting to recruit their players during conference tournaments. Back in March, Queens University head men’s basketball coach Grant Leonard accused an unnamed SEC assistant of purchasing a ticket to their Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament games in an effort to “get ahead” of recruiting one of his players in a March 11 post on X/Twitter .
Leonard’s accusation came in a quote-tweet of a The Field of 68 video featuring then- USF head coach Bryan Hodgson , a fo The NCAA FBS Oversight Committee is looking to ban coaches from attending games they are not an active participant in to limit tampering.
Hodgson was later hired as Providence ‘s new head coach on March 22. “I’m not like the rest of these college basketball coaches.
