2028 5-star QB and Texas A&M commit will visit LSU this weekend.

Texas A&M's 2028 recruiting class currently features two commitments, led by five-star quarterback Donald Tabron III, who committed to the Aggies early last month after building a strong relationship with coach Mike Elko and first-year offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins. It's very early in his recruiting process, as the blue-chip signal caller was reportedly set to visit LSU this weekend, when the Aggies take on the Tigers .

However, according to Rivals recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong , Tabron's father told the reporter that his son will not visit the Tigers this weekend and is completely focused on his commitment to the Aggies and finishing his 2026 junior season at Cass Tech as the team's star quarterback. However, multiple sources say the loss did not affect the commitment decisions of the ten 2027 commits and 2028 prospects in attendance.

This season, current starting quarterback Marcel Reed has struggled to find consistency in the pocket, throwing two interceptions against Kentucky and putting pressure on the redshirt junior to improve, while his future with the program is now a giant question mark. However, Reed has one more year of eligibility remaining, so A&M's quarterback future is a focus no matter what.

For Tabron, Texas A&M is home, while nearly every blue-blood program will continue to pursue his commitment going into next summer. This also provides the young QB another chance to watch the Aggie offense, which is looking to rebound, especially Marcel Reed, who has had plenty of success against LSU since taking over as the program's starter midway through the 2024 season.
