STATTAKE-DERIVED METRICS

A StatTake metric is identified as derived when we calculate it from source data. Methodology should describe the inputs, exclusions, sample thresholds and whether opponent or era adjustments are applied. Derived rankings are editorial products and should not be represented as official school, conference or NCAA statistics.

RANKS, PERCENTILES AND COMPARISONS

  • Tables identify the comparison group: national, FBS, Power Four, conference, position or season.
  • Percentiles define whether a higher or lower raw value is better for that statistic.
  • Cross-era comparisons show raw values alongside era-adjusted context when possible.
  • Per-game and per-play rates are favored when unequal schedules or pace would distort totals.
  • Small samples and missing seasons are labeled rather than silently treated as zero.

HISTORICAL COVERAGE

No single college-football statistic has identical coverage for every season. Results and records often extend farther back than complete player or play-by-play data. Every historical table should show its actual first season, last update and known coverage limitations.
