Corrections Policy

Use the StatTake contact form and select “Correction.” Include the article URL, the statement you believe is incorrect and a reliable source that supports the correction when possible.

• The claim is checked against the article’s research and authoritative sources.
• Clear factual errors are corrected as soon as reasonably possible.
• A material correction receives a note explaining what changed.
• Minor spelling, grammar or formatting fixes may be made without a correction note when they do not alter meaning.
• Headline, summary and social-preview text are updated when the error appears there too.

A developing story may receive new information after publication. When the original reporting was accurate at the time, the article may be labeled as updated rather than corrected. The publication and modification dates remain part of the article record.
